On October 1, 2024, the new Tobacco Products Act came into force in Switzerland. This brings drastic changes for all vape consumers. Our experts comment on the new law.

 

Strict limitation to 2ml liquid

With the new e-cigarette law, Switzerland is aligning itself with the European Tobacco Directive. As a result, disposable vapes and prefilled pod systems will only be permitted with a maximum of 2 ml of e-liquid in future. This means that extremely popular products such as the Elfbar 1500, Elfbar 2500, Vozol Gear 10000 and Elfbar Lowit will disappear from the market in one fell swoop. E-liquids with nicotine remain permitted in 10ml bottles. From an ecological point of view, this regulation makes absolutely no sense. This is because the smaller liquid tank will further increase the number of devices and components that have to be disposed of.

 

High liquid tax on all products

When the new law comes into force, the prices of vape products in Switzerland will increase massively. A tax of CHF 1 / ml liquid will be levied on disposable e-cigarettes.
