In conclusion, it can be said that manufacturers of vapor devices do not make false statements, the number of puffs simply corresponds to a maximum value, which is almost always undercut during normal consumption. When buying, you should therefore pay less attention to the number of puffs and more to the amount of liquid contained. The more e-liquid a disposable vape pen contains, the more efficient the device generally is.

Ban on disposable vapes in Switzerland?

With the new Tobacco Products Act, which will come into force in Switzerland at the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025, disposable vapes will definitely be limited to 2 ml of e-liquid. As a result, popular models such as the Elfbar 1500, Elfbar 2500 or the Vozol Gear 10000 will disappear from the market forever. This seems nonsensical, as it further worsens the ecological balance of this device category.

 

The resulting gap may be filled by hybrid systems such as the Lost Mary BM6000 or the Elfbar AF5000, in which a separate liquid tank is inserted into the battery carrier. Whether these devices will also be permitted in the future has not yet been conclusively clarified.

Liquid tax and price increase for disposable vapes

Is the price increase for disposable vapes coming?

With the new law for e-cigarettes, taxes are also due for e-cigarettes. For disposable vapes, this amounts to CHF 1 per milliliter of e-liquid contained. An Elfbar 600 will therefore cost at least CHF 10.50 instead of CHF 8.50 in future. A Crystal Bar will cost at least CHF 11.90 instead of CHF 9.90. As prefilled pod systems with rechargeable batteries will only be taxed at CHF 0.20, it can be assumed that many consumers will switch to this product category. This will significantly improve the ecological footprint of Swiss e-cigarette consumption.

Disposable e-cigarettes must always be carried in hand luggage when traveling by air, as they contain a lithium-ion battery. According to the latest federal directive (FOCA), only 6 x disposable e-cigarettes with 2ml of liquid are permitted in hand luggage. The information is somewhat confusing, as a total of 15 battery-powered devices with a maximum total of 27000mAh are permitted.
