Multi-hole clay head

The most common shisha bowl is without doubt the multi-hole clay bowl, which is often produced with five small holes in the base of the bowl. A Seflex (tobacco sieve) prevents fine pieces of tobacco from getting into the holes and clogging them up. A clay head is inexpensive to produce and is available in countless designs. The head construction with a clay head is usually done with aluminum foil or a chimney attachment. Buy a cheap bowl from Shisha Heaven now and enjoy it soon!

Image picture clay head

You want to buy a shisha and are unsure which head fits best? The clay head is undoubtedly the classic among the shisha heads. It is made of robust fired clay, is cheap to produce and can be combined with many construction variants. The many holes on the bottom of the head provide a good draft, which promises a high smoking pleasure. With very many Shisha sets for beginners is supplied with a clay head, for this reason almost every hookah smoker makes acquaintance with this setup. The clay head is ideal for beginners to gain initial experience. Later, you can always switch to a high-quality Phunnel, Powerbowl, Vortex or a Hot Shot.

What setup for clay heads?

You want to buy a buy a tobacco headbut you are not sure which construction is best suited for a clay head? We introduce you to the two most important head construction types:

Clay head structure with aluminum foil

Shisha clay head aluminum foil

The classic construction of a clay head was and still is often made with aluminum foil, or armored aluminium foil made. For this construction, the tobacco is first placed in the depression for the tobacco deposit. When building the head with aluminum foil, make sure that the upper level of the tobacco is lower than the upper edge of the clay head. Otherwise, the tobacco may burn due to the high heat generated. Then place aluminum foil tightly over the top edge of the clay head and spread it against the bottom of the head to hold it in place. Then poke holes in the aluminum foil with a pointed object (piercer, eels, toothpick) so that air can be drawn in. The hot natural charcoal (usually 3 cubes) is then placed directly on the aluminum foil or a charcoal screen is first placed on the aluminum foil, on which the charcoal is then placed. With a charcoal sieve, the charcoal cubes can be placed a little better and the pressure on the aluminum foil is better distributed.

Clay head structure with chimney

The clay head assembly with chimney is very simple and succeeds even beginners quite easily. After the hookah tobacco is placed loosely in the recess provided for this purpose, the clay head with the chimney attachment covered. This covers the top of the head and has a pipe in the middle for the passage of air. On the top of the chimney is a sieve on which the glowing shisha coal is placed.

What tobacco in the clay head?

In principle, you can smoke almost all tobaccos in the clay head. However, the stronger Dark Blend varieties are better suited for the Phunnel head.

How to clean a clay head?

Shisha clay head cleaning

Clay is a porous material, so the moist molasses can eat into this material quite well. One of the disadvantages of the multi-hole clay bowl is that the moist components of the tobacco can flow into the holes in the bottom of the bowl. This can clog the holes, and in the worst case, the molasses will run down the smoke column to the bowl. Here's how to clean your clay head: Bring water to a boil in a pan. Gently place clay head in water, make sure it is completely surrounded by water. Boil for 5-10 minutes and much of the molasses residue should be easily removed.
