A charcoal lighter for shisha has primarily one task: It must bring the shisha charcoal as quickly as possible to the desired operating temperature, i.e. to glow through. There are two systems in particular that are worth mentioning.
Gas powered coal lighter
Wherever there is no electricity, the use of a gas-powered charcoal lighter makes sense. Most often, camping gas cartridges serve as an energy source, which can be purchased at any hardware store. The burners have a top with an edge, in which the coals can be placed. As soon as they glow, they are placed on the charcoal screen of the hookah with charcoal tongs.
Electric powered charcoal lighter
The electrically operated charcoal lighters have long been established in the Swiss hookah market. With them, the coal can be heated at home extremely easily and they are very cheap to buy. There are different versions, very rudimentary, which only have a heating coil on which the coals must be placed somewhat unstable. Then there are more sophisticated systems, thanks to which the coals can be placed safely on the heating rods.
Conclusion
Electric or gas-powered coal lighter belonged to every hookah equipment. If you want to enjoy your product for a long time, you would be well advised to spend a little more money and not to store the charcoal lighter outdoors (e.g. on the balcony).
